We spent day three at Los Muertos Beach. There is a section of the beach condered the gay section and is where you go to people watch and be with others that identify as LGBTQ. However, it isn’t exclusive, and if you’re comfortable mingling, you are more than welcome! We found it less congested than the section closer to the Pier. There are a number of restaurants lining the shore, and there are two well known beach club in the gay section. We opted for Ritmos Beach Club https://www.ritmoscafe.com/RitmosCafe.com/Welcome.html (locally referred to as “green chairs” due to the color of the beach chairs provided). The other club, Blue Chairs Resort by the Sea, is a little more upscale and you can reserve a section or a larger tent for your day at the beach. Note: Ritmos is free, but the expectation is that you purchase drinks and food in order to use chairs and plant yourself there. We spent about 2 hours which was plenty of time. I forgot to mention that we started the day having breakfast at Cocoa’s Kitchen https://www.cocoskitchenpv.net/ which was walking distance from the condo. Cocoa’s has a wonderful outdoor seating area nestled amongst the trees and the food is reasonably priced and delicious! I was particularly enamored with the fresh squeezed orange juice. Anyway, back to Los Muertos. We were there from 10 am until about noon. Even with the umbrella, it was about all we could take of the heat! The other factor was the constant stream of peddlers (trinkes, offers for massage, sunglasses, etc.)! It was constant, and very annoying. Unfortunately, if you’re looking for serenity, you won’t find it here. We didn’t get the opportunity to go further south of PV to Mismaloya Beach (where the 1964 John Huston film “Night of the Iguana” was filmed). All in all, it was a great experience and we enjoyed people watching and listening to the waves.
