The Adventure Begins!

I recently shared that Ken and I decided our next home would be Savannah, Georgia. We spent this past weekend on Tybee Island, Ga with the aim of identifying a lot for purchase in the Savannah area. It’s a 4 hour drive from Atlanta to Savannah. Our Atlanta realtor, Chrissie Khallio https://chrissiekallio.atlantafinehomes.com/eng, recommended a Savannah area realtor, Greg Waldour, https://gregwaldhour.evrealestate.com/ and he picked us up on Saturday and we spent the whole day exploring opportunities in Tybee Island as well as Savannah. I was struck by how beautiful the area is. He gave us a list of lots that met the criteria we specified and we spend all of Sunday checking them out. As fate would have it, the last lot we saw was the one the seemed to suit us most. But wait! There was an unexpected plot twist! We contacted Greg to inquire about a lot in a develpment called Hollyoaks. It was large, wooded, and the area was very quiet. We were actually met by a flock of ducks adjacent to a picturesque pond at the center of the development. Greg agreed to meet us within the hour and advised that he had a suprise in store for us. As it turns out, there was another unlisted lot in the same development! This lot is about an acre and a half and faces the marsh! We also learned that the lot had been listed in 2022 and writhdrawn from the market. We’re praying we can get it for the price that fits our budget criteria! The development has an HOA and an architectural review board that has to approve all owner plans. As the prevailing architecture in the area is classified as “low country” we hope that our desire to build a contemporary style home doesn’t meet with resistance. We have started the logistal planning process of packing up our Atlanta home and preparing for our interim move to Dublin, Georgia. March is going to be a busy month!
