On Friday, May 19, 2023, we officially closed on our sale of 31 Mayson Ave, Atlanta, GA!. The official sale price of the house was $1,000,000 – $100,000 over asking! As I type these words, I’m flooded with memories of our lives there. Nine happy years were spent in this house and we enjoyed having family and friends visit over the years. I don’t think I allowed myself the opportunity to really savor our last few months in the house because once we decided we were ready to move forward with getting the house listed, it was full steam ahead with purging, packing, and making the necessary repairs needed to ready the house for market. We had the opportunity to return to the house a few times after we vacated to finalize removing our belongings and other matters and it was striking how different the house felt. With our things no longer there, it was simply a house. Devoid of feeling, waiting for someone else to make it their home. From April 13, 2023 when the house went live on the FMLS, to the May 19, 2023 closing, a lot has happened! We are happy to share that we have commissioned Jeffrey Bruce Baker Designs https://www.jeffreybrucebaker.com/ To design the interior of our future Savanah home. While the exterior of the home will be “Low country”, we are going for a contemporary feel on the interior. We have had two meetings with Jeffrey and we are very pleased with the direction he is taking. We have hired an architect who has prepared a site plan and we have two builders under consideration. We have started an inspiration board where we drop ideas for appliances, furniture, and finishes. I know this will be a lengthy process, but I am excited about the prospect of living in a house that noone else has ever lived in and making it our forever home! My wonderful husband Ken, whose project management skills make me confident that we will be successful in this endeavor has already accomplished a lot. I would like to close with a special thank you to Chrissie Kallio and her team at https://www.sothebysrealty.com/atlantafinehomessir/eng/associate/753-a-df20100813211014861/chrissie-kallio When we made the difficult decision to change realtors prior to going to market, we knew after our initial meeting with her that we had found the right agent. She came to the meeting polished, prepared, and knowledgeable about the Atlanta housing market, in particular our Edgewood neighborhood. She correctly surmised that the much hyped slow down in the market would not significantly impact the Atlanta area and that Spring would be a good time to list our home. She came up with a list price and marketing plant that placed us in the position to move the house in less than 30 days with multiple offers and gave us the bragging rights of being the first home in the Edgewood neighborhood to sell for a million dollars! While the expense of preparing to list was painful, we are greatful that it paid off in the end! More to come on the developments in Savannah!
We have closed!
