Homebuilding Update!

After the exhilaration of getting $100K over our asking price for the sale of our old Atlanta home, we immediately kicked off the process of planning for construction of our Savannah home. To that end, we acquired plans online and in keeping with the asthetic required by our develpment’s HOA, we choose a “low country” design which is what this area of the country is known for. We will be building in the Holly Oaks Estates subdivision located in the Georgtown area of Savannah, Ga https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id4RtpAK1Dc We are delighted to have found 1.44 acres of land which puts of 20 minutes from downtown Savannah and 30 minutes from Tybee Island! While the exterior of our home will be low country, we want a modern/contemporary feel on the inside. We identified a wonderful designer, Jeffrey Bruce Baker https://www.jeffreybrucebaker.com/ and are very excited with what he’s come up with so far! We have submitted and received approval for our plans and have also identified an architect and a general contractor. We are fortunate in that our contactor recently finished his personal home in the development and will be building the house on the lot adjacent to ours. All of this is benefitting our budget from an economy of scale standpoint. We expect lot clearing to being the week of July 1 and we’re looking forward to seeing our dream come to life!. The construction timeline is 7 months, so hopefully we’ll be moving around February of 2024.
