Lot clearing is nearly complete!

The lot at 106 Drifton is nearly cleared! It’s amazing to see the difference with so many of the trees removed. The progress has been impeded due to rain for the past several weeks in the Savannah area which renders the lot muddy and makes operating heavy equipment impossible. We are hopeful that the clearing will be completed by 7/31. If all goes well, our contractor will pull permits and the foundation will be poured in early August! That will be the most tangible sign that our new future home is one the way! We are finalizing the interior design. The only remaining interior hurdle is appliance selection. We really have our hearts set on high end appliances and don’t want to compromise on that area of the design. However, we are mindful that it is important to really watch our line items as the last thing we want to do is exceed our budget! On another note, I managed to obtain a new job opportunity and will now be working in Savannah! My new role is Community Coordinator for the Georgia Department of Community Supervision Division of Reentry Services https://dcs.georgia.gov/locations/savannah In this role, I will work with Parole Officer in support of helping the population served find employment opportunities, housing, and healthcare. I am very excited at the prospect of once again working in the government sector in a public service capacity. All indications are that my new employer is a huge proponent of work life balance and my immediate supervisor seems amazing! I am equally excited to be working in my future city which will hopefully help me to get acclimated that much quicker! I once again have a commute of about 90 minutes, however it’s nowhere near as taxing as my former commute from Atlanta to Macon and I find that during the drive I can think and reflect on my upcoming day as well as formulate strategies for being effective in my new role. I am only required to be in the office 2 days a week! I am amazed at how quickly 2023 is passing! The remaining 5 months of this year will see me turning 64 and I am greatful for all of the milestones and accomplishments that have taken place up to this point! More to come!
