Homebuilding Update

Well since I last posted, the lot clearing is finally completed and the foundation is expected to be laid the last week of September. Summer seemed to go on and on without much progress largely because the month of July and August were so rainy and our general contractor was waiting for a permit. So during this period a lot has happened! I started a new job with the Georgia Department of Community Supervision Reentry Services in Savannah https://dcs.georgia.gov/reentry-services I had begun to tire of my prior job with Geico and thought it would be a good idea to start looking for opportunities in the Savannah area. I had my interview in April and got my offer letter in June. Although I have a 90 minute commute from Dublin, Ga to Savannah, I’m only required to be in the office for 2 days a week and the drive isn’t that bad. I also have the flexibility to set my own schedule which has definitely made a positive impact on my work/life balance! Once we move to our new home, my commute will be 15 minutes! We had a wonderful time getting away over the past few months. We’ve been to Charleston, South Carolina, Tybee Island, Georgia, and Barbados! I am trying to keep my expectations for how long this build will take in check because patience is not my strong suit. Once the foundation goes down, I’m optimistic that things will move more quickly.
