New Year in Puerto Vallarta!

We had the pleasure of ringing in 2024 in my favorite place in the world – Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! After spending a week in Blueridge Georgia for Christmas, we jetted off to Puerto Vallarta with 3 good friends. We stayed at an all inclusive resort – the Buenaventura Grand Hotel and Great Moments Resort. https://www.hotelbuenaventura.com.mx/ being back in PVR reminded me once again why we wanted to become expats and move here. It’s beautiful! It was even more memorable at this time of the year because we didn’t have to contend with the sweltering heat! It was actually chilly in the evening. The resort was nice, however it seemed to be plagued by the same issue most all-inclusive resorts have – mediocre liquor, and average food. It seems that the the logic was to load you up on carbs and hope that this will keep you sated. The proximity to the beach however made up for any shortcomings with the food and beverages. Our room was also nicely appointed. One of the highlights of the trip was a tour of a tequila operation south of Mismaloya. Rancho Verano Distellery is a small family owned operation that produces around 2,000 bottles of tequila annually. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvU6zWVOH_s It was a pleasant suprise to learn that limes and salt aren’t the norm when drinking tequila, rather the product should be enjoyed with an unsullied palate. I was surprised at how smooth the different varieties were and we were so impressed we purchased 3 bottles to bring back to the States! The tour was capped off by lunch at the adjoining restaurant which featured some of the freshest seafood I’ve ever experienced! We spend two days on the beach at the Ritmos Beach Cafe a reknowned spot in the Zona Romantica’s gay zone https://www.gaymexicomap.com/detail.php?l=Ritmos-Beach-Cafe It’s the perfect spot for people watching and enjoying the waves. The cocktails aren’t bad either! We did hit the streets one evening to enjoy the Zona Romantica’s nightlife. Our trip was capped off by a New Year’s Eve banquet at the resort featuring a plethora of proteins, live music, and a fireworks display. 2023 was an eventful year with the sale of our Atlanta home, a short-term move to Dublin, Georgia, a new job, and the start of construction on our forever home in Savannah, Georgia. Here’s to 2024 and a the possibilities it will bring!
