We had loaders that came in on 7/26 and loaded up a 20ft U-Haul witht he contents of our storage unit and the things we were taking from Dublin. It was a husband and wife crew and they were very good! They got everything loaded in about an hour and a half. They complimented how organized we were. We arrived in Savannah around 3:00 and much to our dismay, Ken could not find the keys to the padlock on the U-Haul. Rather than going back 90 minutes to Dublin to fetch it, we opted to call a locksmith who drilled the lock out for us. It was our first opportunity to see our house clean and it was amazing! There were still painters onsite doing touch up work but for the most part, it was ready to be turned into a home. We were also happy that our contractor was able to get those pesky wall-mounted toilets installed and working! We spent Friday night in a hotel. Saturday morning we were ready for the unloaders. We upped the crew from 2 to 4 becuase we wanted them to get it done quickly. It took about 90 minutes. We were amazed at how much stuff we had! YIKES! Our leather sleeper sofa from Joss & Main https://www.jossandmain.com/furniture/pdp/jonie-91-genuine-leather-sleeper-sofa-j001353100.html?piid=2030954717 . Sleeper sofas are notoriously heavy and we were greatful that our delivery team was able to wrestle it into our guest room/lounge without causing any wall damage. We were able to spend our first night in the house Saturday night and we were both exhausted and slept like rocks! Sunday morning after breakfast at our local Waffle House, I started the task of unboxing things while Ken got started on getting our home automation set up. Our wifi is up and running, but we have 35 Cat 5 network drops to support sensors, Alexa, and security cameras. I was able to get my office set up and all of my clothes unpacked. Today, Monday, we have someone coming to assemble our bed as it has an elaborate headboard that consists of wall mounted fabric panels and we need it to be done correctly. This will be my first day working from home! Our cabinet installer expects to get our doors and drawers installed Thursday, or Friday that will enable me to start getting my kitchen and pantry in order.
We made the move!
