Holiday Season Approaches!

We had the pleasure of hosting Ken’s Mom, Niece, and his Nephew In-Law over the past week. Ken’s Mom is 93 and her mobility has become limited over the past year necessitating someone traveling with her. She is showing signs of decline associated with old age (poor hearing, weight loss, etc.) but her spirit appears intact. She loves spending time with us and we were delighted that she got the opportunity to see our new home. The only blemish to the visit was the outcome of the U.S. election. The only thing I’ll say about that is that I was deeply disappointed and somewhat apprehensive about the future. I have deactivated my social media platforms, save for this one, and am avoiding main-stream media outlets. I need to disconnect and don’t plan to reengage until sometime next year. My Mom and Sister will be here for Thanksgiving which is just a little over two weeks away. We will be spending Christmas in Connecticut with Ken’s family. Things are going well at work and I am glad that at least that aspect of life is stable. My relationship/marriage is strong and even though there are occasional friction points, I feel fortunate to have found a life partner that I can’t imagine being without. The next 4 years are going to be difficult, but I have a strong belief that things happen for a reason and at the end of the day, we’ll be fine – we have to be!
