Mykonos, Greece

We spent day 5 sailing and arrived in Mykonos, Greece and day 6. Our shore excursion where was to the ancient city of Delos. “Delos (/ˈdiːlɒs/Greek: Δήλος [ˈðilos]Attic Greek: Δῆλος DêlosDoric Greek: Δᾶλος Dâlos), is a small Greek island near Mykonos, close to the centre of the Cyclades archipelago. Though only 3.43 km2 (1.32 sq mi) in area, it is one of the most important mythological, historical, and archaeological sites in Greece. The ongoing excavations in the island are among the most extensive in the Mediterranean, and many of the artifacts found are displayed at the Archaeological Museum of Delos and the National Archaeological Museum of Athens.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delos) We took a tender from Resilient Lady to Mykonos Port where we caught a ferry to the Island of Delos. We toured the site extensively and were awed by the sheer magnitude of the site where it is still possible to get a sense of how life was during this period of history. Seeing the remains of homes, shops, mosaic tiled floors and the stunning views they had of the sea transports you back in time!
