We are only twenty-five days away from the first day of Fall! After a wonderful birthday week, I’m mentally preparing myself for changes on the job. On 8/13 I interviewed for a promotional opportunity – Regional Reentry Manager. I received notification on the same day that I was selected for the new role with an effective date of 9/1/26. It will be my second promotion in my 3 years with the Department. The announcement to the department was made on 8/20 and promotions were posted to the Department’s Social Media on 8/26. Team DCS Prior to applying for this opportunity I interviewed for two other opportunities in the same division and was getting discouraged because I was not selected. I know that I bring 30 years of management experience to the table and sometimes it’s hard for others to acknowledge that because of my short time with the Department. Being 67 years old and still making significant strides in the workforce in something that I’m proud of. I don’t know how much longer I will work, but I plan to give it all I have while I’m doing so! I will now have to manage two Senior Leads (the role I am leaving), and I will have to find a way to both make them feel trusting while holding them accountable. On the homefront, Friday, 8/28 was date night. We tried a new spot in in Pooler, GA called The Sauce Italian. https://thesauceitalian.com/ It had a dark moody vibe and I had an excellent espresso martini! The food, however, was mediocre. I had to ask for marinara to add to my lasagna. We might go again to see if their pizza is any good. Next weekend we head to Guanacase, Costa Rica for Labor Day weekend. I’m looking forward to an international trip!
